Position Overview:
The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers and other key stakeholders to support the execution of commercial electrical projects. This role is essential for ensuring that technical aspects of electrical systems are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and teams to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Support: Assist in the planning, design, estimation, and implementation of electrical systems for commercial construction projects, ensuring they meet client specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Coordination: Work with electrical engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure the proper installation and functionality of electrical systems. Address technical issues and resolve challenges promptly.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain and organize project documentation, including proposals, submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), change orders, and other technical reports. Ensure all project documents are up to date, organized and compliant with industry standards.
  • Cost & Schedule Monitoring: Support the Project Manager in tracking project budgets and schedules. Assist in preparing cost estimates, material take-offs, and vendor coordination to ensure projects stay on track and within budget.
  • Quality Control & Compliance: Assist with quality assurance and quality control efforts by conducting site visits, reviewing work for compliance with design specifications, and ensuring adherence to safety and electrical codes.
  • Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination: Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain necessary materials, equipment, and services. Help coordinate the logistics and scheduling of deliveries and site activities to prevent delays.
  • Field Support: Provide technical support to field teams, ensuring they have the necessary resources, materials, and information to carry out their work efficiently. Troubleshoot and resolve field issues as they arise.
  • Progress Reporting: Prepare and submit progress reports, project updates, and technical documentation to the Project Manager. Track project milestones and ensure that deliverables are met on time.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and other engineers to coordinate tasks and ensure that all team members are informed and aligned with project goals and deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to address technical and logistical challenges on-site and in the office.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience as a Project Engineer in the commercial electrical industry, with experience in electrical construction, design, or engineering support.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of electrical systems, commercial construction practices, and relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA).
    • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, Microsoft Project, or similar).
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar drafting software is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, and ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred). Alternatively, an Associate’s degree with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
    • Ability to visit job sites and work in field conditions as needed.
    • Knowledge of safety procedures and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
